The Programme is
a very important part of achieving our aim of providing a quality, unique
educational service. The Centre aims to provide a stimulating, safe and
secure environment for all children. We aim to make the children's families
feel welcome at the Centre at all times. Each room displays the weekly
programmed activities. Our main areas of focus are music and foreign language,
however, the educational experience will also encompass painting, play-dough,
puzzles, blocks, construction, movement, language, stories, poetry, dramatic
play, sand, water/sensory play, as well as outdoor activities.
The children are
free to choose the areas of interest in which they will participate, both
as individuals and as part of a group. The staff design developmentally
based programmes for individual children. Each child has a main care-giver,
who will communicate with the parents about their child's development.
Sharing and co-operating with other children is encouraged by staff. Information
about what is happening in the Centre is available on the notice-boards,
in the newsletters, at the parent meetings, as well as by talking to the
staff. We respect meal times, and place a great emphasis on the importance
of the correct eating etiquette. Meal times are a social and enjoyable
event at Planet Child Care Centre, and we all come together for the meal
times. Staff also eat with the children and model correct behaviour.
