The Centre provides
the children with a nutritious, healthy-balanced diet, which is prepared
daily on the premises. We ask that parents never send their child to school
without breakfast. (If your child did not eat breakfast at home, please
provide something which can be eaten in the room upon arrival). The first
meal of the day is morning tea which is served at 10am. A hot lunch is
served at 12 noon, which is followed by dessert. Afternoon tea is served
at 3pm, (and if we have any birthdays, this is when we celebrate it with
a cake that the Cook will prepare). Late afternoon tea is served at 5.30pm.
All meals and snacks served, are in accordance with the Health Department
Guidelines, and the "Nutrition Checklist for Long Day Care Planning".
The Menu is displayed
on the Kitchen Door. The menus are planned and changed each week, and
include a variety of multi-cultural dishes. Children have the opportunity
to drink milk and water throughout the day. If your child drinks soy or
rice milk, then please provide it, and hand it to a staff member who will
then put it in the fridge. Please inform the staff when you would like
your child to have it. Please also mark it in the "Comments" column on
the Sign In sheet. If your child has any special dietary needs and/or
allergies, please make sure that it has been noted on the enrolment form,
as well as discussing it with the staff. You can collect your child's
rinsed out milk bottle on the sill of the kitchen when you come to collect
your child. Children are never forced to eat or drink anything at any
time; however we do encourage the children to try new foods. The Staff
believe mealtimes should be a happy, socialising experience for the children.
