We encourage parents
to bring their child to the Centre to participate in activities prior
to their starting date; by doing this, the children become familiar with
the staff, the environment, and the other children. If we are your child's
first formal Childcare experience, we advise that on their first day,
they have a slightly shorter day than usual, and then gradually build
up to the length of time that you will require care.

It is essential to
remember that each child will respond differently depending on a number
of different factors; such as the child's age and personality, whether
the child has been separated from parents previously, and most importantly,
the parent's reactions and behaviour. We recommend that you explain to
your child what will happen; that they will stay and play for a while,
and that you will be back later. Please say "goodbye" when you leave,
as this is vital in gaining your child's trust and confidence. Children
react differently to new situations especially when they don't understand
why they are being left. We urge parents to be patient, and can readily
assure you that whilst some children adjust easily, for many it takes
several weeks. Separation anxiety is a natural part of a child's development.
The children may be unsure of the environment, the routine, the staff,
and the other children. Please feel free to ring the Centre at any time
to see how your child has setted.
